Rewind® carpets and a Cradle to Cradle journey toward zero ecological footprint

The Group’s “Route 2030” Sustainability Roadmap outlines concrete commitments to reduce its ecological footprint to zero by 2030. In alignment with this ambition, BFS Europe NV invests in cutting-edge innovations to ensure environmentally conscious manufacturing processes. A key milestone in this journey is the development of Rewind®, a forward-thinking event carpet.

Rewind®: Designed for Circularity

Rewind® is a polyolefin-based carpet engineered with sustainability at its core:

• Fully recyclable after use

• Latex-free, eliminating water use during production

• Easily converted back into raw material at end-of-life

These carpets have already been used at high-profile events such as the Royal Jaarbeurs in Utrecht and the European Green Deal Village at Europe Day in Brussels.

To validate its circular credentials, BFS Europe NV pursued independent certification. In February 2020, Rewind® carpets achieved Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver status.

A Long-Term Collaboration for Continuous Improvement

Two years prior to certification, C2C Platform conducted a feasibility study. After guiding BFS Europe NV through the initial certification of the Rewind® Flat and Rewind® Dilour collections, the partnership resumed in 2021 to prepare for recertification.

In February 2022, both collections were once again awarded Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver, with a Gold rating for Material Reutilization.

Looking ahead, BFS Europe NV and C2C Platform will continue their collaboration over the next three years to further optimize the products and prepare for compliance with the Cradle to Cradle Certified® Product Standard Version 4.0—the most ambitious and actionable standard to date.
